If you think the only kind of bustle in Roxbury is 1890s ladies' wear, you need to get a ticket to "A Taste of Roxbury," the next mixer sponsored by the Greater Margaretville Chamber of Commerce on June 18, as the organization expands its its mission to support businesses and opportunities throughout our region.
"With at least six enterprises in the process of transformation and several successful cottage industries blooming behind the hedges, Roxbury was a perfect location for our next mixer to educate our members and local entrepeneurs about the groundswell of opportunity in this historic town," said GMCC President John Reidl.
Mixer guests will enjoy a "Taste of Roxbury" buffet at The Roxbury Motel and tour its far-out fantastical rooms, take a narrated hamlet tour via horse drawn coach with stops at the two Roxbury Arts Group Galleries and the newly transformed Cassie's Cafe. When all is said and done enjoy a cup of coffee or a nightcap at the "chic" Public Lounge. Participating Roxbury Restaurants include Cassie's Cafe, The East Branch, Fanes Family Deli, Mary's Cooking at Shephard Hills, and the The TBar. Tickets to this all inclusive event are $15 and reservations are strongly encouraged. Interested parties can make reservations on the GMCC website www.margaretville.org.
"We've built a strong anchor here in Roxbury with our heritage tourism, which will now expand from summer to fall and holiday events," said Community Resources Director Peg Ellsworth. "But it's not just about 1898, we have a year round, multi purpose arts center, the super-chic Roxbury Motel and two restaurant expansions coming up this summer. 'A Taste of Roxbury' will give Chamber members the perfect chance to sample all that Roxbury has to offer," she added.
