Roxbury Arts Group Hosts an Artist’s Self Help Class

Justin KolbOn Saturday, May 3,  2008 at 9:00 AM pianist and career coach Justin Kolb will present  a special master class  ‘How to Sell Yourself as an Artist.’  The  popular presentation  is sponsored by the  Roxbury Arts Group (RAG) and will be located at the Walt Meade Gallery  on Vega Mountain Road.  Please call 607-326-7908 to register. $10. ( breaks and refreshments)

The last time Kolb presented this empowering class it was “sold out”. The program is targeted specifically at artists, artisans, crafts people, writers, performing artists and musical ensembles.  This is essential for anyone desiring to establish or enhance their presence in the world of art, literature, and music. Topics will include  but not be limited to:  Reasonable goal setting, Planning on a single page,  Getting the word out about you, Where to go for information, Money and how to get it, Making your own press kit, writing a press release, what the “Press” and cultural calendars want to know about you, as well as  What a good web site should do for you. All questions will be answered and  participants may stay after class with more questions.

Kolb’s lectures, classes, musical performances are well-known for his remarks to the audience which are often laced with humor.

Justin Kolb’s unusual recital programming has wide appeal with interesting and often humorous commentary.  Piano recitals, lectures, motivational clinics for young musicians, and young audience music enrichment programs keep Justin on the road sixteen weeks annually.

In 2007 and 2008 Kolb served as a  popular career coach at Chamber Music America’s annual conference. During a twenty year hiatus from touring the virtuoso served as chief executive officer of a telecommunications company that traded its stock on the nasdaq stock exchange. His lectures about “life after graduation’ are hard hitting, helpful, and empowering for students desiring a professional music career teaching and or performing. “Entrepreneurism” in the performing and fine arts is his favorite conversation topic.
