Grand Gorge and Roxbury Volunteer Fire Departments

The Town of Roxbury is served by the Roxbury and Grand Gorge Fire Departments, both serving our community since the 19th Century. They are all-volunteer, non-profit organizations that coordinate with medical and rescue services in our area. They are entirely dependent on support by the residents and businesses of our communities.

911 Address Signs

To ensure that emergency services know where to find you, display a compliant 911 number at your driveway entrance.

According to the 2020 Property Maintenance Code of New York State:

Chapter 3, 304.3 Premises Identification

“Buildings shall have approved address numbers placed in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers shall contrast with their background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters. Numbers shall be not less than 4 inches (102 mm) in height with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch (12.7 mm).”

Most properties already have address signs posted at the appropriate locations. However, to request a new or replacement sign:

If you’re in the Roxbury Fire District, for a $20 donation to the Roxbury Fire Department, you may obtain a 911 sign by emailing Marty Finch or calling (607) 326-7107 before 8 p.m.
