A ‘First’ for the 21 year old Folk Art Music Festival FIDDLERS! 21

FIDDLERS! is 21 years old this year! An entire day of fiddlin’ music, square dancing and this year for the first time, Shape-Note Singing led by ethnomusicologist and founder of what is currently the worlds’ largest Sacred Harp singing convention, Tim Eriksen. When talking about Eriksen, Josh Jackson from Paste Magazine said “no one has done more to help revive Sacred Harp singing among a younger generation.” Along with performing with The Trio de Pumpkintown, Eriksen will lead a session in Shape Note singing, or Sacred Harp singing (as it is also known as), at Fiddlers! 21 on Columbus Day Weekend Sunday, October 12, 2014 from Noon to 7:00 pm. The entire event will be held at the Roxbury Arts Center at 5025 Vega Mountain Road, Roxbury, NY, 12093. Festivities include shape-note singing, square dancing, and performances by The Tremperskill Boys, Ryan McGiver with Stephanie Coleman & Cleek Schrey, Tim Eriksen and The Trio de Pumpkintown, and Special Guest Hilt Kelly. Audience members are encouraged to bring their instruments to join the performers in the All-Star Jam!
Advance Tickets for FIDDLERS! 21 are $20 for adults and $18 for seniors and students. All tickets purchased the day of the event are $25.
