The Roxbury Arts Group’s popular Rock n’ Pop Theater Camp returns this summer for a week of ‘getting it together and putting on a show’, for actors and musicians between the ages of 8 and 13. The camp runs Monday through Friday, July 6th through the 10th  from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, located on Main Street.  Throughout the week, campers will be led by experienced children’s theater director and playwright Malissa Kano-White as they rehearse a play written just for them and an encore concert.  The week culminates in the Camp Show performed in front of a live audience, on Friday, July 10th at 7:00 pm.  To receive the Early Bird rates of $150 per child, registrations must be receirved by June 1st.  After June 1st, camp fee for one child is $200.  Spots are limited and scholarships are available. Malissa Kano-White is an assistant professor of Theatre Arts at Hartwick College where she teaches Fundamentals of Acting, Advanced Acting and Introduction to Theatre courses. As a professional director, playwright and theatre educator Malissa has worked extensively in Children’s Theatre in her capacity as, Director of the Theatre for the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky, Educational Director of the Center for Theatre, a theatre museum, in Albuquerque, NM and as the Artistic Director for the Orcas Center, in Washington State.  “Malissa Kano-White creates a fun and safe environment for young thespians to learn the theater basics”, said Jenny Rosenzweig, Executive Director for the Roxbury Arts Group.  She added, “Whether or not campers go into the performing arts as adults, learning how to talk in front of others is an invaluable tool and a skill they will need wherever their lives take them.”
