FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Roxbury Revelry!
Sunday, September 2th, 1 PM to 9 PM

This Labor Day weekend, Roxbury, NY’s historic Kirkside Park will resound with the excitement of a true community experience. The MARK Project in partnership with the Roxbury Arts Group and the Town of Roxbury offers a full day of family fun. The 14-acre, exquisitely manicured park will be abuzz with community, friends, families, and fun, celebrating the unofficial close to the summer season, Catskills style. Admission is FREE with a suggested Donation of $5.

The festivities begin at 1 PM with a baseball double header, when the Roxbury Nine – decked out in 19th century gear will take the field against longtime rivals the Brooklyn Atlantics and be joined by members of the Mountain Athletic Club of Fleischmanns and the Bovina Dairymen. The games will run through the afternoon.
At 5pm, community becomes the focus as the Kirkside Barns become the backdrop for an all out-home cookin’ potluck dinner. Bring a dish to share with your community!! Plates, and utensils will be provided. At 6pm Get ready for a good time! Tuba Skinny is bringing it with them all the way from the streets of the Big Easy. This eight-piece band will take you back in time to the swingin’ 1930’s streets of New Orleans. Formed in 2009, Tuba Skinny has steadily evolved from a loose collection of street musicians into a solid ensemble dedicated to bringing the traditional New Orleans sound to audiences around the world. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences—from spirituals to Depression-era blues, from ragtime to traditional jazz—their sound evokes the rich musical heritage of their New Orleans home. The band has gained a loyal following through their distinctive sound, their commitment to reviving long-lost songs, and their barnstorming live performances.

At dusk (approximately 8:30 PM) the night sky will light up with a magnificent fireworks display, putting a colorful cap on the now annual Roxbury Revelry MTC General Manager and Licensed Pyrotechnician Glen Faulkner and his team promise a memorable close to the season.
The event is free with a suggested donation of $5 and is brought to you by the Town of Roxbury, in partnership with the MARK Project, and the Roxbury Arts Group. Funded in part by the A. Lindsay and Olive B. O’Connor Foundation and Delaware County Econoic Development.
